Mobile Maniac

Since last few years, mobile phone has taken a very important place in our life after food, clothing and shelter. An individual can forget to carry his wallet but cannot live or leave the house without a mobile phone. We are so much used to mobile phones that we forget our day to day activities (depends from person to person). We have considered the mobile phone as our slave in our lives. We want the mobile phone to perform very well even after using it for longer time by playing music, making calls, playing games, using GPRS etc.

Along with mobile phone usage we are really ignoring many things related to mobile phone and the mobile service provider.

In last few years, I have come across many people who say that they forgot to charge their cell phone before leaving for work. If we can spend so much on the mobile phone, use it daily and care it more than our lives, then why can't we charge the mobile phone for at least half an hour?

At least more than 85% mobile phone users do not know what mobile phone model they are using. They are very much sure about the mobile phone service provider and also know the big names like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola etc. but they do not remember the model name or number. It's a simple logic, if a person can remember a 10-digit mobile phone number and a 8-digit home or office contact number, why can't a small 4-5 digit alpha numeric model number. It's really not that important, I agree.

No doubt there are also people who just want to spend Vitamin M just to show off on the mobile phone they are using. But they are hardly aware about the features the mobile phone has and what miracles their mobile phone can do?

In our daily routine life, we just talk about the mobile service provider companies, but how many of us are aware about the charges these big companies charge us by fooling us. Well, I wouldn't say that they fool us but we get easily fooled by not reading the mobile phone bill on monthly basis. How many of us are aware about the Talk Plan which we are using?, Per Minute call charges (local and STD), Local, National and International SMS charges, Caller ID charges, Itemised Billing charges and other schemes provided by the mobile service providers from time to time.

We are so much busy in our lives that we don't bother to pick up the mobile phone and dial the assigned Toll Free number of the concerned service provider to check the talk plan and other details of the your sim card and other related services. Most mobile phone service providers provide online billing info. and online payment options. Vodafone has a very good website with all the important and required details related to mobile phone services. You can register on the site and check your daily usage on the site and your talk plan details also. One can check the last 6 bills on the site. When you check the bill for last few months, you will be able to see only the first 5 numbers of the mobile phone called and the remaining appear as xxxxx. But if you download the bill into PDF or Excel format, then you can see the 10 digit mobile phone number. Now, this leads in saving Rs 75/- for Itemized bill, even though the Itemized Billing service is not activated in your plan.

As the National and Zonal Roaming rates have dropped down by all the service providers, I feel that its better to call the opposite person instead of sending a SMS which costs approx. Rs 3.45/-.

Always keep your cell phone on manual mode, as when kept on Automatic Network search mode, the mobile phone automatically searches for the available network in the area and drains the battery at a faster rate.

I hope these few tips would surely help you in saving money you spend on the mobile phone and enjoy mobile talking in life.
